Habito (“we”, “us”, “the app”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Habito you agree to this policy.
The short version
Everything you personally track in Habito — your habits, completions, notes, photos, categories and settings — is stored only on your device. There is no account, no sign-up, and no Habito server. We never see your personal habit data.
The app does show ads (which you can remove with a one-time purchase). Ads are served by Google AdMob, a third party that collects limited technical data to deliver and measure advertising. Details are below.
Information you create in the app
Your habits, completion history, journal notes, attached photos, categories, and preferences are saved locally on your device using on-device storage. This content is not transmitted to us or to any server we control. We have no ability to access it.
Information collected by third parties (advertising)
Habito displays ads through Google AdMob (part of Google). To serve and measure ads, AdMob and Google may collect and process:
- Advertising identifier (e.g. Apple’s IDFA / Google Advertising ID, where available and permitted)
- Device information (device model, operating system version, language, region)
- Coarse/approximate location derived from IP address
- Ad interaction data (ads shown, taps, and similar diagnostics)
This data is collected directly by Google under Google’s own privacy policy. We do not receive your personal habit data through advertising.
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
On iOS 14.5+ you will be asked, through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, whether the app may track you across other companies’ apps and websites. If you decline, personalized advertising is not used.
In-app purchases
Habito offers a one-time in-app purchase to remove ads. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store). We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple may process transaction data under Apple’s privacy policy.
Device permissions we use
- Notifications — to deliver the habit reminders you set.
- Camera & Photos — only when you choose to attach a photo to a habit; the image is saved locally on your device.
- Exact alarms (Android) — so reminders fire at the exact time you set.
You can revoke any of these in your device settings at any time. The app keeps working without them; the related feature (reminders or photos) simply becomes unavailable.
How your data is shared
We do not sell or rent your personal data. Your on-device content is never transmitted to us. When you use an Export or Share action, the resulting file is sent only to the destination you choose (for example Files or another app) through your operating system’s share sheet.
Advertising data is shared with Google as described in the “Advertising” section above. Purchase data is handled by Apple.
Data retention & deletion
Your habit data remains on your device until you remove it. Deleting a habit, clearing the app’s data, or uninstalling Habito permanently removes the associated data from your device. To reset advertising identifiers, use your device’s privacy settings.
Children’s privacy
Habito is intended for a general audience. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because habit data stays on the device and advertising is handled by Google, we do not knowingly process children’s personal data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to object to certain processing. Because your habit data lives only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly by editing or deleting content in the app. For advertising data held by Google, please refer to Google’s privacy controls. For any questions, contact us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new effective date, and made available inside the app.
